View Full Version : Check engine light being weird?

Alright, I just went out tonight and romped on my tona and got her up to around 100 mph and then right after that (by this time i was going speed limit) I noticed the check engine light was flickering, not like checking engine code flicker but real suttle. It seemed to be a short but i got home and did a code test and it only did a 12 (i just recently reset cpu) and a 55 (end of codes) so no trouble codes. What could this be?

check the vacuum line going to your map sensor.

I believe that would be a code 13 or 14 Kevin for anything that relates to the MAp sensor..

you can have a lose line and not throw a code.

I replaced that whole line with those expensive vaccum lines from FWD performance. I'll check that again though. It also becomes hard to start after driving for about 1/2 hour or so.

that sounds like a fuel pump problem...


I have had the timing belt rub a hole in my map line once. It took me a while to figure it out. I also had that 90 that plugs in to the bottom of the map solenoid pop off but it hit some other vacuum. It was barly on, just enough to cause some problems but not throw a code. The light would just flicker and the car ran like ass.

But the car doesn't run like shit. She hauls ass still, just thought maybe a short.
