Hello. Found this place posted on another site and gave you all the "look see". Seems yall have a very informative site going. I have an '86 Daytona turbo z. I posted this in another site so i figured i would repost here. Im new to fuel injection and turbo's. I had an '84 but never changed anything on it. Sold it for reasons out of my control. Anyway here is the post. Any help or feedback is greatly appreciated.

Ok guys. This is for the 2.2 turbo experts. I have an '86 CS turbo Z. I have a stage II mopar performance computer that i was told will give me 14 lbs of boost. I installed a vehicle specific intercooler and just that alone really brought my car to life. What im wondering is if i install this new computer, what will 14 lbs of boost do to my motor if anything? Also where i live we have very leniant emission laws, so what if i do away with my catylitic perverter, or get a high flow perverter? Which is recommended? Does the car need the extra backpressure of a cat? Just seems to me i need to open up this car on the exhaust end a little since i have so much coming on the intake side of it. Thanks for any input yall can provide.

Im not looking to go all out, but we all know a lil performance never hurt anyone. :D I just dont want to go messing up anything. Thanks again for any help you can provide.

With a turbo car, the less backpressure, the better. It's not like a N/A car. Lose the cat...

Unless he can't pass emissions :) Also since that logic module (computer as it were) is made by Mopar, it will really affect your engine...in a good way, stick it in and enjoy the extra boost, no worries!

do you know what intake you have?

Sadly i dont. I do know its not factory for an '86. The car has an aftermarket intercooler in it. I will give it a look see this afternoon and try and chase down what it is.

Pretty much any turbo engine of ours will handle 14psi, especially w/ an intercooler. What's the part # on that Stage II computer?

No pic came up DodgeZ. Weather has been chitty for the past week here. I will post pics as soon as i am home during daylight hours (lol) or its nice and bright out. The part number is P5249670. Forcefed, what is a SLH3 brake upgrade? My front rotors and calipers are off a caravan and my rear rotor and calipers are off an '89 daytona w/ a brake proportioning valve. My car stops on a dime and no nosediving whatsoever.

Where are you located Pacifica? This car was in NC up until around 2001.

Nope.. it's not mine. I'm in Indiana. Mine was a little worse for wear because of cancer in the floors. I know that can't be mine. I ended up practically giving mine away because I was young and didn't know any better back then. I was and still am to an extent a Grand Nat'l lover. However, I like all turbo's so it's time to get my Pacifica up witha little more "pep."
As for changing it over, it's actually not that difficult. The hardest part is the wiring/electronics(SMEC) and even that's not TOO hard... :D

Also, the other more "mainstrem" forums detail the conversion, but www.thedodgegarage.com is probably the best resource. Just be careful because that information is 15 years old and tends to be a "scoche" outdated...

That's the SLH3  Really the SLH packages are L-body upgrades, since they never came w/ discs in the rear, but yeah, you have the same stuff I do. Well, I have the 14" minivan calipers and rotors. I think the SLH3 actually uses the 15" setup. But the 14" setup is plenty for a light L-body. A Daytona like yours could use the bigger stuff.

That my friend is custom made intake!

You have a log intake that has been rewelded for an intercooler. The computer you have isn't going to work with that setup. The computer you have is prolly a GLHS stage 2 which is made for a blow through style intake. Those intakes have a different throttle body which have a four wire AIS instead of two. Those two wires plug right in to the computer.

Your car has a suck through intake. Which means your intake sucks thru your turbo. Since your setup goes intake-turbo-throttle body-air filter. On a blow through setup your turbo blows thru your throttle body like intake-throttle body-turbo-air filter.

Mopar use to sell an intercooler kit for the log intake. It sticks the intercooler right on top of the motor, right under the grill in your hood. This came with a new intake that had the air inlet on the passenger side of the car. It also came with a computer that was reprogrammed to make up for the difference in air coming into the motor from the passenger side. The cylinders that get the air first are normally leaner. So the DC intercooler computer isn't going to work either.

I would find a blow thru intake and move your intercooler to the front of the car and then use your computer. Once you have blow thru intake you can install a BOV and get that cool pppssshhhhh!!!

That's a really cool custom log setup! But if you want a blow-thru intake complete with throttle body fuel rail and injectors for fairly cheap, PM me. maybe we can work something out :)

It's cool looking, but it sucks. There's no cold air flow to it. Even if you put a fan on it, you're still just blowing hot air through it. Be better off to go to a blow-through intake and run a fmic.

A water/air stuck in that location wouldn't be too bad, but of course it would be fairly expensive.
